Doors are pre-drilled to take standard 35mm diameter hinges but can also be supplied plain for fitting on integrated appliances and extract fans if required.

Please note the following points:-

  • Drawer fronts 125mm high and less do not have a face design, having profiled edges only
  • The minimum height for made to measure panels with profiled edges is 100mm
  • The standard positions for hinge drilling are at 100mm centres from top and bottom

It must be clearly stated whether the panel is for a door or a drawer as doors are supplied with the grain vertical whereas drawer fascia's have horizontal grain

We can also supply cornice, pelmet and plinths to match the doors, plus plain square edged panels for use as infills and end supports, which are manufactured in vinyl wrapped MDF and can be trimmed to final size by hand or with a jigsaw, enabling you to slightly oversize if necessary, and then scribe to uneven walls and floors

Hinges

If you are going to replace  the door hinges then you will need to know the thickness of your cabinets i.e. 15mm or 18mm. The hinge plate that fits on the cabinet comes in two sizes - 0mm for 18/19mm carcasses and 3mm for 15/16mm carcasses.

We can supply as standard, Blum 100º clip on hinges or 170º hinges if the doors need to be opened wider, such as with some corner cabinet applications.

Measuring Up

When measuring for doors it is standard practice to take the cabinet width and deduct 4mm, so a 500mm wide carcass requires a 496mm wide door. A 1000mm wide carcass would require 2 x 496mm wide doors etc.

The height of base unit doors is normally the height of the cabinet minus 5mm, so a 720mm high carcass requires a 715mm high door. When fitting the door it is then aligned with the bottom of the cabinet.

Wall unit doors are generally the same height as the wall unit carcass.

Note down whether the doors are hinges on the left (LHH) or on the right (RHH) when viewed from the front.

As you will have noticed WE'VE GONE METRIC!! So when measuring older Imperial size units simply use a metric tape - remember, we can supply your doors to any dimension up to 2400mm tall x 600mm wide.
